Non-metallic emery based dryshake monolithic floor hardener
Vetotop XT539 is a cementitious floor dressing material composed of hydraulic binders, selected hard wearing aggregates and special additives. It is supplied as a dry powder in pre-weighed bags ready to use on site. Vetotop XT539 is applied by dry shake method to provide hard wearing top surface that bonds monolithically to the concrete flooring. It is ideally suited for all industrial areas subjected to heavy traffic, such as power stations, heavy industry, agricultural buildings, distillation plants, laboratories, abattoirs, warehouse floors, loading bays and work shops.
Vetotop XT539 supplied in 25 Kg / Bag.
Light Duty consumption - 3-4 Kg / m2.
Medium Duty consumption - 5-7 Kg /m2.
Heavy Duty consumption - 8-9 Kg/m2.
Expansion Joints consumption - 1.5-2 Kg / 10 cm strips.
Original sealed bag of Vetotop XT539 has a shelf life of 12 months provided it is stored clear of ground in a dry and shaded place below 35ºC.
Design Criteria
Use a properly designed non bleeding concrete mix of required strength, with a minimum cement content of 300 Kg and a slump of 75 mm and not more than 3% entrained air. The surface is then floated with a wooden or aluminum float. After casting, any bleeding water from the concrete should be removed.
Application
Sprinkle Vetotop XT539 along edges of bays (Approx. 100 mm strips) where expansion and contraction joints will be located first. Float into surface using a wooden float.
As soon as the concrete is firm enough to support the weight of the workman, apply the first shake of Vetotop XT539. Use up to 2/3 of the total shake mix in the first application. Treat areas adjacent to walls and columns
first. Spread the material evenly by sprinkling at right angles in two pass close to floor level. Allow applied material to absorb moisture from the concrete surface.Uniform darker color will be apparent.
Using a wooden float, float Vetotop XT539 into the concrete ensuring material becomes an integral part of the surface. Follow second floating immediately after first floating. Spread the balance 1/3 of the material, follow promptly with second floating using wood or aluminum float or power float in case of large areas. A third power floating may follow for added compaction, if required.
Curing
Vetotop XT539 is a cementitious product. All norms and practices of casting and curing cementitious products should be followed. It can be done by either covering with wet water and polyethylene sheets or by the application of curing compound. Immediately after removing polyethylene sheet sweep the floor to remove any dust or loose particles.
After application, avoid rapid evaporation of water that may cause the small superficial fissures appearance due to plastic shrinkage.
It is recommended to cover with impermeable sheets for the initial 24 hours.
Do not apply the product at temperature less than +5ºC or excessive heat or high wind conditions.
Ensure that enough labors, machinery and material is available to complete treating the whole area before concrete dries.
Do not use Vetotop XT539 in areas that are exposed to acids. In case of colored floor, test a small area of floor to ensure the color integrity.
Tools should be cleaned with water before the mortar hardens. After the hardening its residuals can be removed mechanically only.
